Every Culture Has Something To Offer!

The "Rosa Azul" Ballet Folklorico Internacional is a separate branch of Blue Rose Performing Arts. This program is designed to teach folk dance styles, with ballet foundations from Mexico, but also exploring the many influences from all over the globe. The training and style of dances are inspired by Amalia Hernandez, Carlos Saura, Antonio Gades, and many more. The curriculum has been given to 3 year olds through adults. The classes provide a full education on "Zapateado" or otherwise known as "heel work". "Faldeo" or the movements, and the history of where the dances come from is an important part of the class. The folklorico branch is the newest edition to Blue Rose Performing Arts. Classes are available to children and adults of any age. Dancers will be placed in a class, based on their age and ability. Auditions are not required for admission to this class.

"Infantil Folklorico" Preparatory Division

The Infantil Folklorico enrolls 3-9 year olds who are either new to dance or folklorico. Dancers attend class once a week on Tuesdays from 4:00pm-5:00pm. The curriculum focuses on the basics of "Heel work" repertoire, "Faledo" skirt work, and movements from different countries. Students will also be taught how to respect others, have patience, and be educated in the history of the dances they are learning. The class is available to boys and girls. Students must meet age, and technical requirements to advance to the next level of folklorico. Dancers rehearse for a year, and perform at many public events and our Folklorico Recital in February.

"Juvenil Folklorico" Junior Division

The Juvenil Folklorico enrolls students ages 8-13. Dancers attend class once a week on Tuesdays from 5:00pm -7:00pm. The material in this class becomes more intermediate, and age appropriate to the boys and girls attending this class. "Heel work" and "Castanets" lessons will be more complex. Class placement is based on age, and ability. Historical education on the dances and costumes is still a priority in this age group. Students will be challenged, and be given individual corrections in order to master the material. "Juvenil" students are also encouraged to take technical classes like ballet, jazz, or any modern dance classes at the studio. This will further improve their movements, posture, and stamina.

"Principal Folklorico" Principal Dancers Division

Training in Principal Dancers Division is for teens and adults who are committed to class once a week on Tuesdays from 7:00pm - 9:00pm. These are the headlining performers of all folklorico events throughout the year. Students range from ages 13-18+ depending on ability. The material in these classes are intermediate/advanced. "Castanets", "Faldeo" and "Heel work" becomes more challenging. These classes will refine the foundation of folklorico, discipline, and professionalism.
